GRANNY SEZ
Program by Kenneth Barsky
Text by Dave Moorman
I miss my Grandma. She was always
giving out good advice:
"While it is in your hand, put it
away."
"Measure twice, cut once."
"Count your blessings instead of
sheep and you will have good dreams."
Well, Ken has brought us something
almost as good with [Granny Sez]. Here
are the wonderful aphorisms every
young grandmother should memorize to
pass on to the next generation.
Grandmothers (and Grandfathers)
have a huge responsibility. While a
child's parents are busy with the
ordinary scolding and correction, the
Grandparents pass along cultural
wisdom. Some evolutionary scholars
tell us that this is why humans live
so long after child-bearing age. The
elders are the keepers of wisdom.
Of course, our world today is too
fast, too busy, too electronic to be
bothered by wisdom. We want to do it
because it can be done. Wisdom has
given way to certification and
education. Who needs hard earned
wisdom? Cynicism works almost as
well!
Enough blathering. I took the
liberty of adding Granny's face
(borrowed from Dennis Hildreth's Old
Maid Poker on LS 211). Otherwise,
here is Kenneth's sweet little old
program, just waiting for a Boy Scout
to help her across the street.
Whether she wants to go or not!
